After a recent registry cleaning, occasionally Windows gives me a Windows File Protection message?

Why do people insist on messing with the registry. There is no proven benefit to "cleaning out" the registry. If you don't have the CD, too bad you are screwed. It is important and Windows probably won't operate correctly because the registry is fuc*ed up.
