I have a question about binkies and breastfeeding?

Okay so i am breastfeeding my son who is 9 days old, i use the nipple shield and plan on using it for a few months because he and i both like it and he seems more satisfied with it than the straight nipple. Now what i am wondering is if i should give him a binkie to go to bed with or take naps with? because i figure the nipple shield is just like a binkie, have any of you other mothers done that? I don't see how he can get nipple confusion if im not using my nipple im using the nipple shield....... what do you think
